The storyteller of Book 4, a dwarf who lives in Bluerock and is only too well aware of its imminent bankruptcy. When he first hears the plan of his neighbor, the gnome Plunk, to save the town with the aid of the dark elf Priestess Chee'naia, Moses instantly dismisses it as idiocy; however, upon seeing the distress of his wife Elle, whom he's known and loved his entire life, he accepts the risk and ventures out with Plunk (bringing his tools, of course).

Moses' fears were not unfounded - as advance payment, Chee'naia sends the two into the lair of a wrathful dragon, charging them to destroy it. In spite of himself, Moses resourcefully allows the dragon to swallow him and his backpack whole, and destroys the creature from the inside, winning the loyalty of the dragon's kobold minions in the process.

His triumph, however, undoes him. Chee'naia diabolically twists her agreement to enrich Bluerock and transforms the population into gold statues - including Elle, Moses' wife. With no cause left but revenge, Moses leads Plunk and the kobolds into battle against Chee'naia and the death elves, demonstrating a strangely astute tactical mind.
